Membership in the Arkansas parent support group known as The Arkansas Family Association is one of the many advantages of affiliation with The Gladney Center for Adoption. The Arkansas Family Association is comprised of adoptive parents and parents-to-be from all of Gladney's adoption programs as well as some adult adoptees and grandparents. Extended family members and friends also often participate in the Arkansas Family Association because of their belief that adoption is a positive choice for birth parents, adoptive parents, and adoptees.
Arkansas Family Association volunteers dedicate their time and their talents to enhance the adoption experience for fellow members and to support the goals of The Gladney Center. The Arkansas Family Association strives to provide ongoing support to the members at each stage of the adoption process, to promote adoption and Gladney in their communities, and to provide financial support to the Gladney Center through an annual special event fundraiser.
The benefits of Arkansas Family Association participation are numerous. Not only do families develop wonderful friendships and receive ongoing support from other Arkansas Family Association members, but they also receive adoption education and post adoption information. Most importantly, the family social events hosted by the Arkansas Family Association provide the opportunity for the children to know and to interact with other adopted children.
