The Houston Area Family Association has a rich heritage and was founded in 1952. Over the last fifty four years, our Association has changed and evolved just as The Gladney Center has. Our core commitment for the Houston Area Family Association is to provide support for families to “Grow with Gladney” throughout all phases of life; from approved and waiting, parenting, children and teens, or adult adoptees. In addition, our belief and commitment to raise funds to support The Gladney Center for Adoption and adoption education has been unwavering with fundraising events held annually.

The Houston Area Family Association represents a broad spectrum of families who have adopted. In addition to parents who have adopted from Gladney’s Domestic Programs, the Association also includes many couples and single parents who have adopted through Gladney’s International Programs. Regardless of the type of adoption program (Domestic, ABC, International, or New Beginnings) that you choose, we all share the wonderful “Gift of Family” created through the miracle of adoption!

There will be lots to do this year for all Houston Area Family Association members. Our approved and waiting families get together several times a year for support as well as have “Stork Watch” events with guest caseworkers from The Gladney Center. We will have great family events like our Pumpkin Patch, Holiday Party, and Annual Spring Picnic. Our family events provide the opportunity for children to interact, and develop friendships with other adopted children. This year we will also provide thought provoking and informative speakers at our adult educational meetings, including an adoption discussion panel in November during National Adoption Month. The first Houston Area Family Association Golf Tournament Fundraiser will be held in Spring 2007 and we hope this will be a fun event to participate in!
